We FINALLY closed and have a new home. Many thanks to all of our friends and family for the immeasurable amounts of support through the past several weeks. At the moment we are still sleeping at the old location while we have some work done on the new home.
OF COURSE there is one last chapter written in this incessant drama.
Although we are glad to have closed, the timing is incredibly challenging. The prelude to the story is... when the process of looking for a new home began, Jeff and I discussed having movers help us. Ultimately we decided against it when the closing of the old home was looking so dubious and God only knew what was going to happen.
That brings us to this week. We finalized everything on Tues (thank GOD) and seemingly have a week to move. However, I am leaving this weekend and that means Jeff would have to do everything on his own if we moved on the weekend. The decision was made to get the moving van Tues night, begin Re-loading it for the second time, I would use the majority of the day Wed to finish packing it and then Jeff and I would unload it when he got home.
Everything was going great UNTIL...
We got to the new property and realized that the van was too long and wouldn't go up the driveway of the property due to the steep grade. BTW- Now there are very nice marks in the asphalt as we tried numerous ways to make this work. Unfortunately all was in vain and we were left with no choice but to park on the road and hike about 100yds UPHILL to the garage. I just shook my head. After all, with the way this whole process has gone, what else could we have expected!
It was 9pm by the time we came to our dark conclusion and opened the rear door to begin the daunting task of unloading. We finished at 2:30a and fell into a short but welcome slumber at 3:30a with the alarm set for 5:30a.
Today I am being reminded of the longest 100yds in Texas and fully expect to utilize large amounts of caffeine to function throughout the day. At some point I hope to reflect on the facts of- we have a new home, are 98% moved and looking forward to the future in 'our' (Jeff &I) first home together.
Whew!!!
